Decision Making
0) Find out: What is your decision?/ What do you like ?/ What is your opinion ?/ Do you have expert knowledge to take decision ?
* Spend at least 10 mins. Write it out.
* Upper bound of time spent here: Depends on the problem/situation.
1) Consult at least five expert people for pros and five expert people for cons.
* Note down the points.
* Think about them.
* Compare them against what is your stand.
Note: Take opinion of 10 people, if no experts are reachable. Idea is to gather as many points/thoughts/experiences as possible.
2) Do not act in haste - very important based on the sensitivity and repercussions.
* If the decision, and the subsequent action can wait - delay it until optimal time.
* Do not buy until it is needed. Do not do if no opportunity will be lost.
3) Check if it is a overkill.
E.g, High end CAR for Village Roads [or] City with heavy traffic.
Machine gun to kill mosquitoes ?!
4) Is it done to please someone else? [or] Is the decision colored by other people's likes/dislikes?
5) Just run through for a day or two, as if the decision has been taken.
* How it looks/feels to you? Keep your senses alert.
6) Check if the decision is reversible, pay more attention for irreversible decisions.
* Are you ready to not look back?
* Would you blame others?
7) Run Six thinking hats: White/Red/Black/Yellow/Green/Blue. Make sure you have 3 to 5 points against each.
White: Facts and circumstances || Red: Feelings and Emotions || Black: Apprehensions and pessimistic views || Yellow: Opportunities and optimistic views || Green: Find/Look for new/alternative solutions || Blue: Control and Summary.
8) Check the validity of the decision after 1 year, 2 years, 5 years, and 10 years.
* will the decision result in depreciation/appreciation?
* will the decision hold good?
9) How long will you be part of/responsible for the decision taken ?
* Can you live with the decision for that duration?
10) Are you confused after above steps?
* Voice it out to your friends/family/guide.
* LISTEN ( not hear ) to the views expressed.
* Run the steps until the confusion is over.
11) If you can not RUN past confusion[in step 10], then STOP. { STOP - Stop Thinking Over (the) Problem }
12) Forget the past, and proceed with the present.
Note: Keep refining the points, based on the experience/ new knowledge.

Looks good. But I don't think we can get 5 + 5 experts for any case ;).
While buying the mustang, I was in step 11 and did 12 :-D.
